Jack Doroshow had style in spades, hearts, clubs, and diamonds. And, he did it all with humor, compassion and passion. Jack was a thousand blooms in a thousand rooms. A beloved friend.

What makes a friendship, an object, or a painting dear? Many times friendships and collections seem to be connected with the same sensibility. Most of my personal collecting has been based on the simple principle that it feels pretty to me.

I was recently gifted a painting of two roses from Jack’s collection. I loved the painting over thirty years ago when in his apartment. I could not have imagined at the time that it would one day be mine.

Art and antiques have history, imagine the lives around the objects. The passing of an object and the objects that we keep. The joy of ownership and the joy of letting go! The many stories that can be told….
